General

The General user preferences section is a collection of miscellaneous settings that do not warrant their own category.

Number of undo levels:

The number of undo levels that PFTrack stores. Increasing this number gives a larger undo history but may come at the cost of increased memory usage (Default value: 5).

Manipulator size %:

The size of translate, rotate and scale manipulators which can be increased or decreased in size (Default value: 100%).

Graph curve transparency %:

The transparency level used to display curves in error graphs (Default value: 70%).

Tracker keyboard nudging distance %:

The distance a tracker is moved when nudging it with the keyboard shortcuts. Value is a percentage of the tracking window size (Default value: 2.5).

Scrub bar colour for processed frames:

This option can be used to change the colour of processed or tracked frames in the scrub bar and Coverage panels.

Scrub bar colour for unprocessed frames:

This option can be used to change the colour of unprocessed or untracked frames in the scrub bar and Coverage panels.

Use OS native file browser for loading media:

When selected, operating system native file browsers are used to load media files such as image sequences and movie clips..

The advantages of this are that shortcuts to items such as My Computer and Desktop are present and they are more convenient for accessing remote network drives.

Use OS native file browser for other files:

When selected, operating system native file browsers are used where ever possible for non-media files, for example when selecting a new project path or exporting an XML preset file.

The advantages of this are that shortcuts to items such as My Computer and Desktop are present and they are more convenient for accessing shared network drives.

Show hidden files when browsing for media:

When selected, hidden files, such as those starting with a dot on macOS or Linux, are displayed in the File Browser, otherwise they remain hidden.

Allow delete of input nodes that still contain linked media:

When enabled, input nodes containing media can be deleted without first removing the media from the node (Default: disabled)

Click again to confirm delete button operations:

By default, buttons that delete things in PFTrack require you to click again on the button to confirm the delete operation. This behaviour can be changed to delete immediately when first clicking the button by switching this preference option off.

Use OS native colour chooser:

When selected, the operating system native colour chooser window will be used to select or change colours.

Enable calculator icon for numeric entries:

If selected, a calculator icon is displayed in some numeric entries fields. Clicking on this icon brings up a calculator interface where values may be entered using a mouse or pen and calculations performed. The calculator functionality can also be accessed using the context menu popup by right-clicking in the numeric entries field itself.

Cinema/Viewers

The Cinema/Viewers section controls various aspects of the Cinema and Viewer windows.

Tracking point display type:

The method used to draw trackers in the Cinema window:

- Dot: Display using a single dot centred at the tracker position

- Cross: Display a cross with its centre at the tracker position

- Triangle: Display a triangle where the top-most corner is located at the tracker position.

Default value: Dot.

Tracking path display length:

Ground Plane Line Thickness:

This parameter controls the thickness of lines used to display the ground plane.

Default value: 1.0

Dense Point Cloud Proxy Size:

This parameter can be used to adjust the number of points used when rendering proxy versions of any dense point clouds. This occurs when interacting with the Cinema or Viewer windows, and reducing this value may improve overall rendering performance whilst interacting.

Default value: 500000

Update Cinema on Drag:

This controls what is displayed in the Cinema when dragging the playback head in the scrub bar:

- Full Update: Display the clip at every frame

- Frame Number: Display. the frame number at every frame but not the clip (once dragging of the playhead ceases, the clip is displayed at the new position).

Changing this setting can aid interactivity when scrubbing if the clip and/or its nodes are time consuming to render. Default value: Full update.

Cinema widget position:

Many nodes or panels will display additional buttons and tools as an overlay widget in the Cinema window. This option controls where those tools are placed. The default value is Bottom-centre and other values can be selected to place the tools at any corner or edge of the window.

Cinema darken factor:

This value controls to factor used to darken the Cinema window when clicking the Dark Clip Image button.

Alt/Option key modifier enables tracker window adjustments

When enabled, the Alt/Option must be held in order to adjust the window or search area of any trackers (for example in the User Track node). Switching this option off will allow the tracker position or window size to be adjusted using the left mouse button alone. (Default: disabled).

In Tracker Adjust mode, move background instead of tracker

When adjusting tracker positions in the Auto Track or solver nodes (such as the Camera or Survey Solver), enabling this option and dragging with the left mouse button will move the background image to align with the tracker. When this option is disabled, dragging with the left mouse button will move the tracking point to align with the background. This setting is also observed when using keyboard shortcuts to nudge tracker positions.
