Object and Geometry Tracking

Camera and Rigid Object Solving  |  Geometry Tracking with a Static Camera  |  Geometry Tracking with a Moving Camera

Note that tracking jobs can often be completed using various different combinations of nodes. The trees described below are for illustrative purposes only, and are not necessarily the only way each type of task can be completed.

- Camera and Rigid Object Solving

- Geometry Tracking with a Static Camera

- Geometry Tracking with a Moving Camera

Camera and Rigid Object Solving

This example shows how a moving camera and rigid object can be tracked using feature points.

Tree with Auto Track, Camera Solver, User Track, Object Solver and Scene Export nodes

1. Auto Track node to track features for the moving camera. The moving object has been masked using a Roto node in this case.
2. Camera Solver node to solve for 3D tracker positions and the camera motion path.
3. Orient Camera node to orient the camera and ground plane for the clip.
4. User Track node to track features on the moving rigid object, placing them in a new tracker group.
5. Object Solver node to solve for the motion of the new tracker group relative to the camera.
6. Scene Export node to export a scene containing the moving camera and the moving rigid object.

Geometry Tracking with a Static Camera

This example shows how geometry tracking can be used to track an object viewed by a static camera.

Tree with Orient Camera, Geometry Track and Scene Export nodes

1. Orient Camera node to orient the camera and ground plane for the clip
2. Geometry Track node to track the moving object.
3. Scene Export node to export a scene containing the static camera and the moving geometric object.

Geometry Tracking with a Moving Camera

This example shows how geometry tracking can be used to track an object viewed by a moving camera.

Tree with User Track, Camera Solver, Orient Camera, Geometry Track and Scene Export nodes

1. User Track node to track features in the background of the shot.
2. Camera Solver node to solve for the camera motion.
3. Orient Camera node to orient the camera and ground plane for the clip.
4. Geometry Track node to track the moving object.
5. Scene Export node to export a scene containing the moving camera and geometric object.
